Let Freedom Ring, Let the White Dove Sing

Justin only had a 3-day work week last week so there isn't much to report. He is still scheduled to do his Cross-Country July 10-12 so please say some prayers for him, his IP, and all the other students and IPs going. They're trying to fly to Colorado, but that can change at any moment.

We hope everyone had a great Fourth of July! We had our old neighbors, Danny and Julia, come down to stay with us for the weekend. They got in on Friday around 3pm. We visited for a few minutes and then Justin and Danny left to play golf with some friends. Julia and I opted to stay home (out of the sun) where we caught-up and cooked supper.
On Saturday we all woke up at a descent time and spent the morning sitting around drinking coffee and watching the news. Around lunch time we went to town to pick up some burgers and hotdogs to grill for supper. We ended up eating at a local BBQ place for lunch and then stopped at Wal-Mart for grilling supplies and a few last-minute Patriotic outfits. Once we made it home we had some mutual friends over and started up the grill. We visited for about 2 1/2 hours before it was time to go to the rodeo. We got there early so we were able to get great seats; all the way at the top where we could lean against the fence. The rodeo was pretty entertaining and lasted a little more than two hours, which was well worth the $5/each we paid. We left at 10pm and headed for the Amphitheater, which is where we spent July 4th last year; we got a great view of the 25-minute fireworks show on the drive over and they were still going once we got there. The Los Lonely Boys were supposed to play at 10:30pm, but they ended up having to cancel due to a family death. We stuck around to check out their replacements, but it was nothing but Mexican music so we skipped out pretty quickly. By this time it was around 11:15pm so we decided to go to Sonic and get a midnight snack. We hung out for about 30 more minutes while everyone ate their desserts and then we called it a night and headed home. By the time we got home and all four of us took showers it was already 1am; we were exhausted. We woke up this morning at 8am thanks to our Sophie Alarm (she's in a phase of barking in the morning to wake us up). It ended up being okay though because Danny and Julia were planning to leave at 9am anyways to head home on their 3-hour-long drive. They pretty much just had enough time to get dressed, pack-up, and leave this morning. The weekend went by so fast, but we had a lot of fun and we're so glad we got to see our old friends one more time before they move in August. They've invited us up to their house later this month to go horseback riding so hopefully that will work out for us.

Arriving at the rodeo. My dress and Justin's shirt were bought about 3 hours prior at Wal-Mart.

Waiting on the rodeo to start; we got here 1 1/2 hours early so we had some serious time to kill. THANK GOD it was a good temperature and very breezy.

L-to-R: Jessica, Stephen, Billy, Justin, Me, Julia, and Danny.

We don't have any plans for the rest of today other than me cleaning the house. Justin has been studying off-and-on all weekend so he'll probably spend a good chunk of today studying some more.
